Description: La Chaleur is a French-Italian drama directed by Stéphane Demoustier, adapted from the novel of the same name by Victor Jestin. Set during an unusually intense heatwave at a seaside campsite in the Landes region of southwestern France, the film follows seventeen-year-old Marouane Cherki (Hadrien Hussein) during the final day of his family’s summer holiday. Instead of enjoying the last moments of vacation, Marouane is consumed by fear over a terrible incident from the previous night: he has buried a body on the beach and now worries that it will be discovered. As the sun beats down and the campsite continues its ordinary routines, the teenager struggles to conceal what happened while dealing with mounting anxiety and the pressure of keeping his secret. His growing attraction to Giulia (Martina La Manna) offers a brief glimpse of romance and the possibility of a different future, but his guilt makes it increasingly difficult to escape his thoughts. With the departure from the campsite approaching, seemingly insignificant encounters take on a threatening significance, and the tension gradually builds. Blending the atmosphere of a summer holiday with the suspense of a psychological thriller, La Chaleur explores adolescent confusion, guilt, desire and the devastating consequences of a moment that cannot be undone.
