La Captura follows two Mexican federal police officers, Arturo Carmona and Héctor Rosales, during what begins as an ordinary roadside stop in Sinaloa. When they pull over a stolen vehicle, however, the routine procedure suddenly turns into a life-threatening encounter with Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán, one of the world's most notorious cartel leaders.
Realizing the identity of the man they have encountered, Carmona and Rosales are drawn into a dangerous situation where survival becomes their immediate priority. With the cartel closing in and the officers unable to trust the people around them, their final hours on duty become a tense struggle involving pursuit, violence and difficult decisions. The story is inspired by the real events surrounding Guzmán's capture on January 8, 2016, but focuses on the experience of the police officers rather than presenting another conventional biography of El Chapo.
