Norbert comes from an old aristocratic vampire family, but unlike the rest of his kind, he has never been comfortable with the traditions imposed on him. To secure his place in the family and avoid being rejected by his parents, he must find a woman of pure blood, bite her and marry her. Accompanied by his eccentric servant Didier, Norbert sets out by ship toward Japan in search of the woman who can fulfill the ancient requirement.
His journey takes an unexpected turn when the ship is wrecked and he ends up on the mysterious island of Boulet Rouge. Far from finding the solution to his family problem, Norbert becomes caught in a chaotic confrontation involving vampires, hunters and the island's inhabitants. His increasingly desperate attempts to complete his mission collide with a world that refuses to follow the rules he grew up with.
