Vick & Tarstar’s Scarecrow Factory is an American independent horror comedy written and directed by Brewce Longo, co-written with Kasper Meltedhair. The film follows two cash-strapped filmmakers, Vick (Brewce Longo) and Tarstar (Gaby Bogdanoff), as they struggle to complete Scarecrowed, an outrageous horror movie about murderous scarecrows. Their production is held together by an unpredictable crew of punks, addicts, fetish models and unconventional outsiders, but the project faces one disaster after another. Financial problems, homelessness, messy relationships and the sudden departure of crew members threaten to bring filming to a halt before the filmmakers can finish their ambitious low-budget epic. Despite the chaos, Vick and Tarstar remain determined to tell their story, relying on improvisation, bizarre ideas and whatever resources they can find. Erin Caywood plays Pez, while Nicole Elyse appears as Shelly Roslyn and Josh Christensen portrays Eddie, who also becomes the Scarecrow. Tina Krause, Steven Reifsteck and Kasper Meltedhair feature among the supporting cast. Blending mockumentary-style filmmaking, underground punk culture and deliberately outrageous horror, the film offers a chaotic, self-aware look at independent filmmaking and the eccentric personalities willing to do almost anything to bring a bizarre creative vision to life.
